Detail

Peach Curry is an ensemble that plays folk and dance music from diverse cultures across Europe and the Middle East. Their unique sound features a blend of Eastern instruments (Persian tar, hand drums) and Western instruments (winds and brass) with vocals.

The band, based in Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1999. They released a CD titled "Dancing With the Infidels" in the summer of 2001. The 13-track CD features music from Renaissance Europe, and the Middle East, that spans the 10th through the 20th centuries. A companion booklet provided sheet music, dance steps, and performance notes. Most of the Middle Eastern dances from the book are original choreography by Sherifa el-Bakkar, a former band member.
